I'm Katie Simpson and The Mountains are Calling is my business.
Skiing is my passion and aside from being out in the snow myself I love nothing more than helping others to plan their perfect ski trip.
I was introduced to the mountains aged seven and was hooked from day one. Family ski holidays and school trips were my childhood experience of the Alps, following which I enjoyed working three winter seasons in different resorts across Switzerland, France and Austria. On returning to the UK in my mid twenties I worked for the Ski Club of Great Britain and more recently spent the last five years running the UK operation of a bespoke ski tour operator.
Corporate Ski Events
I have run corporate ski events in resort and have extensive experience in arranging the logistics of any ski event from one to 120 people in a wide selection of resorts. I have been lucky enough to visit numerous resorts across the Alps and I plan to add new resorts to my portfolio year on year.
Family Skiing Holidays
When not dealing with all things mountain I am a mum to two children. They experienced their first ski trip aged four and two and still talk about it 3 years on. I'm hoping the passion has been passed onto the next generation!
Having a family of my own has given me added knowledge and experience of the needs of a family ski trip, including catering for a wide range of ages and ski experience.
'The Mountains are Calling and I Must Go'
The name The Mountains are Calling and acronym TMAC come from a quote by John Muir, one of America's most famous and influential mountaineers and environmentalists. Born in 1838 in Scotland he dedicated his life to discovering more about the great outdoors. Today he is often known as 'Father of the National Parks'. The actual quote came from a letter he wrote to his sister in 1873. For my purposes, over 140 years later, not a truer word could be spoken. 'The mountains are calling and I must go'.
